Crepes for lunch in Fougeres and a stroll around town.
Arrive at Mont St-Michel
Group Dinner
Our Day With the Group
Today we were together with the group quite a bit, however there were nice pockets of time to explore on our own. Our lunch spot in Brittany was a quaint town, with a castle, town gardens, and yummy crepes! We had plenty of time to eat lunch and take a walk through the town.
My favorite part of the day was when Virginie pointed out the first hint on the horizon of Mont St-Michel. As we drove closer, it just became more majestic and breathtaking. We heading to the island, just as the day tripping tourists were heading off. Yet AGAIN another smart time saver of the tour! The island is basically one narrow alley that heads up to the abbey. Our hotel rooms were hidden down different little paths and doorways. We had a little bit of time to explore, and really this is the only time to hit the cheesy tourist shops to grab your postcards. Then we rejoined the group for a FIVE course dinner which was at a very relaxed pace. While dinner did take a few hours, it actually helped us to stay up to watch the island as darkness crept upon it. Mom and I walked out the front gates of the island to the causeway in order to have a good picture-perfect view of the island illuminated. I was exhausted, but it was totally worth the time to have those memories of Mont St-Michel at night!
Dear Friends:
"Amazing Breathtaking Magical These are the words that come to mind when you see Mont St-Michel. How lucky am I to get to spend the night here!"
